MD Support, Inc.: Non-profit group which offers both technical information and emotional support for people both on and off of the Internet who are coping with retinal degeneration.

Washington Academy of Eye Physicians and Surgeons: Site for professional organization that includes ophthalmologists ( EyeMDs ) in both solo and group practices in general and sub-specialty eyecare throughout Washington state.

Descriptive Video Service: A service of the WGBH Educational Foundation in Boston, making television and movies more accessible to people who are blind or have low vision.

National Alliance for Eye and Vision Research: A non-profit advocacy organization made up of a coalition of professional, consumer, and industry organizations involved in research in eye and vision disorders.

EyeCare America operates multiple toll-free, 24-hour, seven-days-a-week, helplines that allow callers to request free eye health educational materials or to see if they qualify for a referral to one of EyeCare America's 7,800+ volunteer ophthalmologists nationwide. Callers seeking a referral will be automatically screened to determine their eligibility for the program that provides the most appropriate eye care services. Eligible seniors who have not seen an ophthalmologist in three or more years may be able to receive a referral for eye care at no out-of-pocket expense for up to one year. Callers who have not had an eye exam in the past 12 months and are at increased risk for glaucoma may be eligible to receive a referral for a glaucoma eye exam.

AgingEye Times - AgingEye Times is an organization that provides free access to the latest medical information on diseases of the aging eye in an attempt to empower people to take control of their vision health, while educating them on the importance and need for further medical advances.

American Academy of Ophthalmology - Information for general public presented by national professional organization regarding eye disease, eye care and other vision-related resources.

American Association of the Deaf-Blind - A national consumer advocacy organization for people who have combined hearing and vision impairments.

American Council of the Blind - National membership organization for blind and visually impaired people.

American Foundation for the Blind - A national clearinghouse for information regarding non-medical aspects of blindness and vision impairment.

The Blind/Visually Impaired Ring - An Internet resource that joins together home pages and websites that are either run by blind individuals or are for blind individuals.

Blinded Veterans Association - Blinded veterans helping blinded veterans since 1945.

The Foundation Fighting Blindness - A national organization that funds research at over 40 prominent institutions, and provides information for eye care specialists, professionals and affected families.

Glaucoma Research Foundation - A national nonprofit focusing on research, public awareness and patient education about glaucoma.

Guide Dogs for the Blind - Provides dog guides to qualified persons in the U.S. and Canada.

Library Equal Access Program at the Central Library (LEAP-Seattle) - Through the use of adaptive equipment and specialized services, blind, deaf, deaf-blind, and visually-impaired patrons can participate in library programs and access library resources.

Lighthouse International - This nonprofit provides information about eye diseases, adaptive technology and low vision resources, as well as direct services to visually impaired people in New York State.

Macular Degeneration Foundation - Dedicated to discovering the cause and developing cures for macular degeneration, and promoting the development of improved vision enhancement and rehabilitation aids.

The Macular Degeneration Partnership is a non-profit organization made up of patients, families, researchers, physicians, industry partners and workers in the fields of vision and aging. Our mission is to provide comprehensive, easily understood and up to the minute information about macular degeneration to the public.

National Eye Institute - Focuses on research to discover safe and effective methods to prevent, diagnose, and treat diseases and disorders of the visual system.

National Federation of the Blind - A consumer organization of blind people working together to improve opportunities for the blind and promoting public understanding of blindness.

National Library Service for the Blind and Physically Handicapped - Provides free library services to people with vision problems and physical disabilities. It offers Braille and recorded books and other periodicals through a network of cooperating libraries.

Optical Diagnostics - Clinical software for optometrists and ophthalmologists as well as consulting services. Web site features a Macular Degeneration simulator which can be found by clicking on the products link.

Prevent Blindness America® - National volunteer eye health and safety organization dedicated to fighting blindness and saving sight.

The Seeing Eye - Provides dog guides to qualified persons in North America.

Washington Talking Book and Braille Library - Provides talking, Braille and large-print books free to anyone unable to read or use standard printed materials because of visual impairment or other disability.

United States Association of Blind Athletes - This nonprofit amateur sport organization provides sport opportunities at the state, regional, national and international levels for the legally blind.

Washington State Department of Services for the Blind (DSB) - Offers services for blind and visually impaired people, including vocational rehabilitation, the independent living program and an assistive technology center, among other programs.
